ACC is proud to support Healthier 2021. Helping support the wellbeing of your people is one of the more important things you can do. We understand the link between a working environment which focuses on health and wellbeing, and how that can positively impact your bottom line. That’s why we’ve been working closely with businesses and industry partners to help understand the barriers to making health and safety improvements. Our goal to is help make changes that lead to safer behaviours and, ultimately, safer workplaces. You’ll hear about ACC’s recent work focusing on collaboration and innovation across the sector.
Our MC for the roadshow, Martin Laurs, began his health and safety career as a business consultant and trainer with ACC. His brief was to help "at-risk" industry sectors e.g. meat processing, forestry, wood processing, supermarkets and hospitals – build their health and safety capability specifically in terms of the ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) programme and the ACC Partnership Plan. His clients varied from NZ's largest corporations through to small family businesses. Martin has also worked as a practitioner for labour hire businesses, Meridian Energy and several Government departments setting up health and safety systems and undertaking independent audits to tertiary level. For the last 5 years he has been Business Central’s principal H&S trainer and known to many of you!
